First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chairs a meeting of the Subcommission for Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation and Protective Measures in Foreign Trade

The participants in the meeting agreed on the feasibility of introducing a 5% rate for the customs duty on imported asphalt pavers.

The subcomission members supported the Kazakh side's initiative to suspend customs duties for plum puree and skimmed milk fats for the respective periods of nine and six months. They also approved a proposal to extend the effective customs duties for prepackaged palm oil to coconut and palm kernel oils.

The participants discussed the possibility of introducing export duties for unpolished amber. Following the discussions, Mr Zubkov said the issue should be examined further, now in cooperation with the government of the Kalinigrad Region as well as with executives of amber-processing companies.

He also called for further elaboration of a proposal to raise import duties on sodium carbonate.

Concluding its meeting, the panel approved the Customs Union Commission's draft resolution to amend Article 2.27 in the Unitary List of Merchandise with Banned or Restricted Export/Import by the Customs Union Member States within the EurAsEC zone in trading with non-member countries.

The attendees also backed a proposal to amend the Agrement on Licensing within the Customs Union by expanding the provision on the submittance of information concerning license compliance by customs agencies directly to a competent body of the Party.

They recommended that the subcommision's new decisions should be passed on to the Customs Union Commission for consideration.
