The Commission is a coordinating body established to ensure cooperation of federal executive bodies aimed at applying state policies regarding biological and chemical security in Russia.
The Commission has the following responsibilities:
• to draft proposals on building and improvement of a state biological and chemical security system;
• to draft and implement government policies in this sphere;
• to protect critical industrial infrastructure facilities in the biological and chemical sphere;
• to supervise international cooperation in biological and chemical security;
• to organise cooperation between federal executive bodies in effective use of federal budget funds and other sources of financing in this sphere;
• to handle other issues pertaining to applying government policies to ensure Russia's biological and chemical security.
