The parties signed a joint statement which reads, in part:
"In light of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's historic visit to Moscow and meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and members of government, Sheikh Al Khalifah and Mr Zubkov held official negotiations to discuss the development of the friendly relations between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
"The parties confirmed their mutual willingness to strengthen political cooperation on key regional and global problems. They unanimously expressed their support for the use of political and diplomatic tools in addressing regional and international conflicts, as well as for strengthening the security architecture of the Persian Gulf and of the Middle East in general.
"The parties spoke in favour of developing dialogue between their two civilizations based on equality and respect for national and religious identity, traditions and legacy.
"The parties also expressed satisfaction with the development of strong ties between the two countries, as well as their willingness to continue strengthening them. The representatives from Bahrain and Russia also emphasised the importance of advancing cooperation in industry, trade, the economy and finance, thus stimulating government and private investment and encouraging cooperation in the energy industry, particularly the gas industry. They also stressed the importance of sharing knowledge and information on technological and cultural issues.
"The key areas for bilateral cooperation are outlined in a draft of a roadmap for Russian-Bahraini cooperation, which will be further discussed.
"The parties reviewed the results of their countries' cooperation in trade, the economy and industry, and agreed to improve interaction mechanisms such as the Russian-Bahraini Business Council, organise meetings between members of the two countries' official and business communities in order to increase trade turnover, explore opportunities for establishing joint ventures, encourage multi-faceted cooperation regarding other countries and hold consultations on marketing Russian products.
"During their discussion of energy and gas issues, the parties arranged to hold consultations for the construction and use of gas pipelines, as well as the application of cutting-edge Russian technology to increase the productivity of oil wells in Bahrain. They also expressed their willingness to promote dialogue in the energy industry, including for the development of peaceful nuclear energy.
"The parties agreed to increase their countries' cooperation in the aluminium industry.
"The parties discussed finance and mutual investment, agreeing to accelerate the coordination of the draft agreement to be signed between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Bahrain on stimulating and protecting investment and arranged to hold consultations on banking and investment relations.
"The two parties expressed satisfaction with the results of the visit and their eagerness to continue their interaction in the interests of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas."
