"I am shaken by this terrible tragedy. The death of a loved one always brings overpowering grief and lasting pain, especially when the loved one is a young person. It is impossible to countenance the fact that their life plans will remain unrealised and their dreams will not come true.
In this mournful hour, I ask you to relate my words of support and sincere sympathy to the families that lost loved ones. Give them and the surviving victims all necessary aid. The government will provide all the necessary resources for this.
I also consider it necessary to conduct a thorough investigation, punish the guilty parties and eliminate the causes that led to this monstrous disaster."
