A meeting of the Government Commission on the Development of Housing Construction, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, was held on September 2.

Questions relating to transferring land plots to the regions to be used for housing construction, and matters relating to the operation of the Government Resolution No. 234 On Providing for Housing and other Construction on Federally Owned Land Plots.

The decision was made to make about 200 hectares of land available for residential construction. About 140 hectares are in Krasnoyarsk Territory, and about 30 hectares in the Belgorod Region. The construction of no less than 1.5 million square metres of accommodation is planned for that area.

The Commission also set a two day deadline for the final amendments to be made to the Government's draft resolution (No. 234), which provide for a ban until January 1, 2012 on federal government agencies entering into agreements on the disposal of land in any way other than through the Federal Fund for the Development of Housing Construction as set out by law. The changes introduced also relate to the regulation of any questions arising in relation to plots of land which have been earmarked for construction in preparation for the Student Games 2013 in Kazan.
