First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chaired a meeting on drafting a section on the specifics of Russian-food sales for the draft federal law On the Main Principles of State Regulation of Trade Activity in the Russian Federation.

"We have repeatedly examined all the main problems facing Russian-food sales. We have agreed on the need to adopt measures to eliminate discriminatory terms of Russian agricultural produce's access to the trade sector and to stipulate maximum payment terms for supplied produce, including perishables, by trade companies, and to create incentives for equitable price-correlation levels for producers, processors and trade companies," Mr Zubkov said in his opening remarks.

Mr Zubkov said "all these measures must be adopted at the legislative level, while voluntary trade-chain practices are purely optional."

"Despite the relevant instructions, the agricultural section is not fully reflected in the draft law," Mr Zubkov said.

The First Deputy Prime Minister instructed the concerned parties to reexamine the draft law's section with due account taken of previous objectives.-0-
