The need was noted for supporting the efforts to stabilise the situation at the plant, in view of its strategic importance. The fact was stressed that AvtoVAZ employs over 130,000 people.

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov chaired a meeting on the situation at the AvtoVAZ plant. Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin, Samara Governor Vladimir Artyakov, AvtoVAZ general director Boris Alyoshin and representatives of banks with state ownership also attended the meeting.

The meeting examined the AvtoVAZ anti-crisis programme.

The need was noted for supporting the efforts to stabilise the situation at the plant, in view of its strategic importance. The fact was stressed that AvtoVAZ employs over 130,000 people.

The need was stressed once again to increase orders placed for domestically produced motor vehicles to meet state needs.

The meeting decided that the principal forms of assistance to the plant would be state guarantees and other mechanisms of state support.

It was decided that within a week the Inter-Departmental Working Group of the Commission for Monitoring the Financial and Economic Situation in Organisations on the Strategic List, led by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Oleg Savelyev, would study an AvtoVAZ proposal for financing its current activities and its investment programme. 

As it drew to its close, the meeting issued a directive to hold necessary consultations within two days and submit to the Government proposals for measures to help implement the anti-crisis programme.
