First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov will head the organising committee for the preparation of the APEC Summit and the Government Commission on the Social and Economic Development of the Far East and the Trans-Baikal Area.
The decision was announced by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin at a meeting on the preparations for the APEC summit in Vladivostok today.
"I expect that such a combination of duties will help to tie in the preparations for the APEC summit with the interests of the region's development as a whole," Mr Putin said.
