Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin toured an exhibition of the Energia Sergei Korolyov Rocket and Space Corporation's technology development and training centre. The corporation is a leading space industry company. Energia President and General Designer Vitaly Lopota showed Mr Rogozin the corporation's new production sites for precision mechanics, pipe manufacturing, and machining. The deputy prime minister also inspected the space station and space vessel monitoring and test centre, and the high-purity assembly and test centre.

The deputy prime minister then held a meeting on improving the quality control system for space technology and the re-organisation of the space industry as a whole. Mr Rogozin said that the Government will review a set of proposals from the Federal Space Agency in the coming days. The proposals will be discussed by the expert community over two months, after which a final decision on the space industry's reorganisation will be made.

"We need to create centres of competence, focusing on the space industry's intellectual capacity, as well as a testing and production base," Mr Rogozin said. "Our objectives are to strengthen the common technical policy and quality management technology, to radically renovate fixed assets, and to overcome technological backwardness by forming long-term order packages."

He added that training and new technological advances should be given priority.
