Government supports a bill on amending the federal law On the Basic Guarantees of Election Rights and the Right to Referendum of Russian Citizens submitted by State Duma deputies Vladimir Pligin and Dmitry Vyatkin

The deputies proposed changes to improve the regulations governing certain electoral procedures.

In particular, it is proposed to reduce from 20 to 10 days prior to the voting date such election activities as compiling voter lists, issuing absentee ballots and conducting early voting; provide to local election commissions acting within the municipalities with the authority of election commissions acting within such municipalities, and to properly regulate the procedure for placing orders for manufacturing ballots, absentee ballots and special characters (marks) with the manufacturers determined by the Government.
