The document has been drafted by the Russian Ministry of Defence pursuant to the Plan of Main Events in the Context of Preparing and Holding Celebrations in Honour of the 100th Anniversary of the Air Force in 2012, approved by President Vladimir Putin on June 14, 2012 (No. Pr-1659, Paragraph 23), and pursuant to the Statute of the Russian Federation Government Prizes for Outstanding Contribution to the Advancement of the Air Force, approved by the Decree No. 906 of the Government of the Russian Federation of 10 September 2012.
The Order awards prizes to reserve or retired officers with an Air Force or Air Defence record, who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the Air Force.
The 2012 Russian Government prizes of 500,000 roubles each will be paid from the Defence Ministry's federal fund earmarked for the 100th Air Force anniversary celebrations.
