During his visit to Cherepovets, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev examined the welded-pipe production line at the Sheksna pipe production plant, which is part of the Severstal company. The Prime Minister toured the manufacturing facility, and the production line where straight-line-seam round and cross-section welded pipes are produced. He also signed a newly made pipe.

The pipe production plant in Cherepovets opened in 2010. It manufactures various types of welded pipe from structural steel. The plant's design capacity is up to 250,000 tonnes of finished products per year.
