At the beginning of the meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir Filat of Moldova, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev stated: "I am glad to have this opportunity to discuss all components of relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova."

Later, during the ensuing Russian-Moldovan talks, which were held in an expanded format, Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Filat discussed a wide range of economic issues, focusing on Russian energy deliveries to Moldova and Moldovan agricultural exports to Russia, including that of wines and cognacs. On the Russian side, among the participants in the talks were Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, co-chairman of the Russian-Moldovan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, heads of the Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of the Interior, as well as deputy ministers of foreign affairs, economic development and energy.

After the talks, both prime ministers attended the signing of a number of joint documents, including an Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Moldova, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction of the Republic of Moldova, and a Statute of the Joint Russian-Moldovan Commission of Historians.

Following the talks, Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Filat held a joint press conference dedicated to the results. The Russian Prime Minister said that Russia had presented Moldova with a package proposal on cooperation in the gas sphere. Another issue that came up at the press conference was Moldovan wine deliveries to Russia. Dmitry Medvedev remarked that there were practically no problems regarding the quality of Moldovan wine at the moment.

The Russian Prime Minister focused on investment projects, which he described as a priority among the entire spectrum of cooperation between the two countries.

Dmitry Medvedev also declared that Russia is interested in seeing Moldova develop as a united territory and in the intensification of the Transdnestrian settlement process. According to him, the Russian Federation will make its contribution to this.
