Dmitry Medvedev visits the locomotive sheds in Omsk and learns about the operation of a “medical train”

The prime minister inspected several new locomotives and climbed into the drivers’ cab. “Everything is digital, I see,” the prime minister remarked.  The shed director told Dmitry Medvedev that the driver’s cabs were equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, and even refrigerators and microwave ovens. “That’s as it should be,” the prime minister commented.

The prime minister also asked about the locomotive’s manufacturer. Vladimir Yakunin, head of Russian Railways, explained that they were assembled in the Urals.

Dmitry Medvedev was also informed that the shed had rebuilt a tenth of all locomotives. Currently it employs over two thousand people. The shop has 353 units of rolling stock.

In addition, the prime minister inspected a “medical train” with its consulting and diagnostic centre and treatment rooms. The train is called “Zdorovye” (Health). Mr Medvedev was told that normally 10 to 12 medical specialists work on this train, and it renders medical services in the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk Regions and the Altai Territory.
