Prime Minister Vladimir Putin inspects the operation of Sheremetyevo Airport

During his visit to Sheremetyevo Airport, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was shown the passport control zone and the “green corridor” at customs. He also learned about the procedure of passenger registration for domestic flights. Later, Putin stopped by the Aeroexpress Terminal that offers shuttles between the airport and central Moscow.

As part of his visit, the prime minister also studied the air traffic schedule for the Moscow zone. The basic format was adopted in 1971 when all the major air terminals were controlled centrally. Today, this creates a number of difficulties for flights as air routes frequently cross.

Putin also learned about the prospects for developing the Moscow zone’s three major airports – Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Domodedovo.

Vnukovo is undergoing reconstruction to improve its logistics and increase passenger traffic. Meanwhile, Domodedovo plans to serve up to 60 million passengers per year in 2020 through its three independent future runways.
