The Spain Today: Life and Innovation exhibition is a significant event in the Year of Spain in Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said at the opening ceremony. While developing bilateral ties, Russia and Spain focus on the use of technology and modernisation in the economy and other spheres, he added.
"Our relations with Spain can be summed up as the joint execution of economic and high-tech projects in the energy, space exploration, high-speed railway transport and information sectors," Zhukov said, noting that Spanish business leaders have shown a keen interest in co-operating with Russia.
"Such co-operation is bound to lead to large joint projects that will benefit both sides," he said.
According to Zhukov, the exhibition's location at the Manege Exhibition Centre is also symbolic. Renowned Spanish engineer Agustín de Betancourt designed and constructed the historical building.
