During his visit to the North Caucasus Federal District, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin inspects plans for the construction and renovation of airports

 
 
 

At an exhibition at the Mineralnye Vody airport, the prime minister was shown architectural drawings and scale models for Russian airport renovation projects. Minister of Transport Igor Levitin explained airport renovation designs to the prime minister with the aid of an interactive map showing plans for Russian national and international airports

Andrei Timochkin, head of the Civil Airport Administration, briefed Vladimir Putin on renovation plans for airports in Gelendzhik, Magas, Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Murmansk, Sochi, Anapa, Kaliningrad and Moscow. He also touched on the Mineralnye Vody airport, where a new 3,900-meter long tarmac runway is under construction.

At the exhibition, Alexander Neradko, head of the Federal Agency for Air Transport, showed the prime minister new Russian satellite navigation and landing systems, and latest air traffic control equipment. Vladimir Putin also inspected equipment produced by the company Aerosvet, which manufacturers lighting facilities for airfields, heliports and helipads. In response to one of the prime minister's questions, a representative of the company said that Aerosvet products were 20% cheaper than their Czech equivalents installed at the Sochi airport.
